It's actually not as complicated as it seems. I made a basic high-neck bodice on which I added the front ruffles (lace), 3/4 sleeves (though I know the real one has long sleeves) the corset (separate from the dress) was made from a simplicity victorian corset pattern that I modified, and the skirt is 3 layers of circle cut chiffon. The petticoat underneath is actually a pettiskirt that I made following Make-it and love-it's pattern. She also has a mary poppins tutorial, but for kids. Hope you managed to make yours, and if not, good luck!Lauriehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15338930059475723644noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-994039234056614279.post-54577465046673139822015-10-01T19:30:24.727-07:002015-10-01T19:30:24.727-07:00THIS IS AMAZING!!! I used a simplicity pattern for glinda the good witch for the bodice, made up the sleeves myself, and the skirt is simply a circle skirt with a pettiskirt underneath. For the corset I used a McCalls victorian corset pattern that I altered to obtain the desired shape. I actually modified the dress since this post, here is the new one: http://fairyfingers.blogspot.ca/2014/08/its-jolly-holiday-with-mary-take-2.html

Good luck with yours!
LaurieAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05139082930147488902noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-994039234056614279.post-58390020249030024782014-08-27T10:53:19.033-07:002014-08-27T10:53:19.033-07:00This is amazing! Thanks for the compliments. I heard a...Hi Kimberly! Thanks for the compliments. I heard about the halloween party, I'd love to go someday. Except I live in Canada, and am not rich, so I don,t get to go to Disney that often, maybe once in every five years or more. I intend to modify tehe dress soon, to make it more like the high-collared version in the film, and with a longer skirt, like the original one.

As for the hat, I used buckram and wire for the frame, poplin as a lining layer, and chiffon for the outside fabric, including the gathered part under the hat. For the ''meringue'' look on the top I used white tulle, as well as tulle for the part that goes under the chin. I was inspired by this pattern: http://www.costumes.org/advice/costcraftsmanual/tmpjk8.htm

Since these photos were taken the little apples have been taken out because they melted in the rain, and I have taken out some of the tulle so that it doesn't look too '''over the top''. One tip though, if you choose to use buckram, is to bring a plastic bag with you in case it rains to cover your hat, because mine got wet and the buckram lost all it's body and I had to repair the whole hat. Another otion would be to find a white straw hat and to decorate it with tulle. Good luck!Lauriehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15338930059475723644noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-994039234056614279.post-50196337569774772802013-10-03T23:08:55.977-07:002013-10-03T23:08:55.977-07:00It's too bad you didn't get to wear it. I'm currently working on the same costume and I will be wearing it at Disney!

The only exception they make is for the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. It's a special event during a limited number of evenings at Magic Kingdom in September and October. They close the park at 7 0'clock and only people who have purchased a ticket are allowed in the Park. They have Trick or Treating, a Halloween Parade and Special Fireworks.

It is the only time when adults are allowed to wear costumes and then only after 4pm.

I would love to know more detail about how you constructed the hat. It is absolutely beautiful and that is the one thing I am stuck on.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02633693876042807658noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-994039234056614279.post-12714587287446761892013-02-16T07:30:35.259-08:002013-02-16T07:30:35.259-08:00Thanks! I found a white shirt in my closet, and wore that with the pettiskirt, the corset and the hat. No one told me to take it off, and I had compliments every 10 minutes, which was nice! My skirt is shorter, the hat is different, and the neckline is lower... but I read Disney's policies, and it says that anyone over the age of nine can't look colse to a disney character, except maybe for a headdress. My pirate costume isn,t a disney character, and I'll add a little vest over my Snow White dress to cover it up a little, and wear a mountain co-op backpack and red sneakers, so these should be okay. But I really doubt they'll let me in the park with this one.
My only chance would maybe be at our ''Mary Poppins brunch'' which is on the site but not in a park, I'll be sitting down and eating, and I thought of adding a banner on my back that says ''Not the real Mary Poppins'' so the other guests won,t be confused... I'll try to plead my cause with the employees...Lauriehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15338930059475723644noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-994039234056614279.post-106408148266362402013-02-05T11:46:25.700-08:002013-02-05T11:46:25.700-08:00Magnificent!
